SEPHYR (Sam Richmond) is a Canadian electronic musician from Edmonton, Alberta. Trained classically on the piano by the Royal Conservatory of Music, SEPHYR started composing his own music in 2014, using local electronic shows and DJing house parties as inspiration for building his sound. SEPHYR became the inaugural graduate of Night Vision Music Academy (Edmonton) in 2017, and has attained a BA (Hons) Degree in Music Production & Sound Engineering from Point Blank Music School (Middlesex University)(2021)

     SEPHYR presents his talent on the keys as the centrepiece of his Live act, encompassing the piano with tightly syncopated drums, polyrhythmic textures, luscious synth layers, sharp vocal sampling, and searing guitar riffs. SEPHYR uses various electronic genres as backdrops to paint his own colourful melodies over to create a palpable sonic atmosphere for the listener to exist in.

    Sprinkled with original tracks, SEPHYR's genre surfing DJ Sets are heavily infused with odes to his UK heritage & piano background with sultry halftime, brooding 140, and adventurous Drum & Bass. A SEPHYR set in its entirety invokes a tribal awareness to the powers of nature - at times fierce & at times calm. SEPHYR has provided opening support for Hospital Record's Levrige (Victoria, Canada) & 1985 Music's Monty (Toulouse, France) after being added to the artist roster at Umbral Sound System (Edmonton, AB) in 2022, following up with eclectic mixes on AAJA Radio (UK) & What Will The Neighbors Think ? (Calgary,AB), an all-original set at Future Forest (NB), as well as sets at Electric Sky (SK) & Neon Jungle (AB).

     SEPHYR continues to provide a steady stream of self-releases while developing his sound with the goal to create anthemic tracks made to transport the listener to the wide open spaces of our world.
